ANALYSIS OF TEASER TRAILER 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTiaKvXqOtQ&feature=PlayList&p=2DF1F435CCD87605&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=64 Above is the link to the teaser trailer for the fantasy film 'Twilight'. Although It is not a thriller, in the trailer it still shows elements that we could use for our own trailer.

A technique used in this trailer is the use of filtering the colour throughout the production. They decided to desaturate the trailer in order to create a cold atmosphere in the setting. This also reinforces the vampire aspect as vampires stereotypically have pale skin.
In the second shot it shows a two shot close up with the background being shown as misty. The forest is shown to be darker also one reason for this is to have a clear picture on the main image of the characters and show the background to be unclear. Another reason for this is to show the forest to be mysterious and run parallel with the situation of the scene.
Throughout the trailer it use the same layout repeating a similar sequence of shots. They decide to use short shots with limited dialogue using more action then switching back to the credits. This is done to excite the audience and leave all the scenes on cliffhangers to keep the audiences queries unanswered.
The soundtrack used is a selection of special effects put together to create a build up. No music is used, this could be done to keep the audiences attention on the action within the trailer and not on the sound. The special effects follow the theme by being fantasy as they used the sound of a heavy wind with light violins over the top, with the change of shots they used a louder sharp sound to emphasise the story.
The use of credits was especially useful to us as we felt we could use a similar technique. They decided to switch to them every few seconds with the same font/colour/size giving limited and basic information about the film enough to inform the audience on a black background. We felt this was effective as they were simple compared to the technical storyline.
Overall the trailer uses a combination of techniques to successfully create a teaser trailer by giving limited information and focusing on one aspect of the film (the relationship between the two main characters) which gave the audience's mind left unanswered.
